Ate at the Southside Cafe on 12/16/2025. Had the delicious bowl of gumbo (chicken and sausage) was delectable! Followed by the roast beef melt on Texas Toast with provolone: hot scrumptuous! Gabby the server was so helpful with food choices on my first time to eat at Southside. Please give Gabby a large Monetary Raise and a promotion for her excellence to customer service!

My Photos aren't great but the food was delicious!!!
Gumbo, Potato Salad, fat Catfish and the Toast under it brought back wonderful childhood memories!
Bread Pudding was exactly the way we like it!
Great staff! Great Service!
Thank you all!

My favourite joint in Slidell to go solo or bring a crew. Good cocktail selection and good bang-for-your-buck portions of seafood. Bring friends to avoid a stomachache!

I ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 poboy fried shrimp and fried fish poboy and had it mixed. The seasoning and freshness of everything was great! The staff is always friendly. I would definitely recommend this if you're in the area.

We had an assortment of dishes for lunch. Could have very well gotten by with just the Poboy sandwiches, but wanted to try a few other items. We started with the fried mushrooms, they were very good, loved the breading and the sauces. From there we each ordered a soup, I had the Seafood Gumbo, the wife had the French Onion. Both soups were very good, would recommend either of them. Then we had sandwiches. I had the Black and Blue, the wife had the Fried Shrimp Peaux boy sandwiches. The meat and cheese on the Black and Blue was delicious, and the aux ju was very tasty as well. The Fried Shrimp had a very good flavor as well. The wife even commented how good she thought the bread was, and I'd have to agree. Overall, we enjoyed this very much. We would definitely go back when we were in the area.

We travel from Middle Tennessee several times a year to Denham Springs to visit family. We make sure to leave home in time to eat at Southside Cafe on the way down.
The food is fabulous and service excellent. Food options are great and their Bloody Mary is to kill for.

Southside Cafe is one of those spots that just feels right. Good, honest Southern food done the way it’s supposed to be.
The gumbo had great flavor and that homemade taste you can’t fake, and the potato salad was just as solid. Nothing fancy—just straight up good cooking.
Service was friendly, quick, and made you feel welcome. Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable, like a true local spot.
If you’re in the area and want real Southern food, this is a stop you don’t skip.

Food is great! Easy to find and get to. Service is amazing. The hot roast beef po boy is 🔥🔥 we also got the Irish Channel which is seafood and chicken & sausage gumbo separated by a channel of tater salad. Oh and the mozzarella sticks so good. And probably the best fries I've had the fry was perfect on them.

Traveling home from New Orleans. We saw a sign on the interstate. We love stopping by local restaurants. Definitely not disappointed. Had the best Ruben Sandwich I have ever had. We picked the right day to stop, there was a corvette show going on there. Had to wait 40 minutes for a table, yet the car show easily took up most of the wait time. Be sure to stop by when traveling through Slidell, LA...You won't regret it. Amazing staff. Amazing food. Had an #Absostinkinglutely #Fabtabulous time. Thank You Southside Cafe for advertising on the interstate 💜 otherwise we may not have ever found you 😘 ~Lesia C~

Highly recommended by Captain Zander from Cajun encounters. It did not disappoint. We got the seafood gumbo, reuben and half seafood Muffuletta. Muffuletta can be share by 2 people for an half an order…see my photos.
Place has a lot of military memorabilia as well which is pretty cool.
